Streets to explore

Street layouts and building footprints: © OpenStreetMap contributors · ODbL. Facades, roof details and unrecorded building heights are architectural interpretations. Place cards contain real Google Maps records at their mapped buildings, with dated review excerpts and links to the original places. Singapore records are from the saved August 2026 collection; Tokyo and London were checked in September 2026.

Time of day: the sun and moon are computed for each street’s real latitude, longitude and compass bearing using the NOAA solar-position equations and a low-precision lunar ephemeris, in that city’s own time zone. Sky colour, lamp brightness and the choice of which upstairs windows are lit are authored, not measured.

Opening hours and busy hours: the saved Google Maps records for each place. Singapore hours were saved on 14 August 2026, and KOMA’s on 11 August 2026. Google recorded no popular times for KOMA Singapore or ArtiStick, and the plate at those doors says so rather than showing a figure. Tokyo and London hours are not in the saved snapshot, so those shopfronts follow the street’s own evening rhythm and their place cards say the hours are unrecorded.

KOMA Singapore is at 10 Bayfront Ave, B1-67 The Shoppes, Marina Bay Sands — not on Temple Street. Its doorway here is a declared stand-in on an unnamed shophouse frontage, so the rebuilt interior can be entered from the street; the place card and the plate both carry the real address. Interior geometry is an interpretive Blender reconstruction from the restaurant’s public photographs, anchored on the operator’s published 2.5 m bell, 7 m dining ceiling and 20 m entrance (KOMA fact sheet, Marina Bay Sands); the footprint, furniture layout and ornament are reconstruction assumptions, not survey.

The brass opening-hours plates were generated from those records and then re-rendered as photographic plaques with an image model; the wording on each is the same saved record, checked line by line against it.

Inside KOMA: the menu you pick up is four of the restaurant’s own a la carte pages, photographed by visitors and saved with its Google Maps photos, cropped only. Pointing at a line orders the dish printed on it. What is said about a dish is the saved Google Maps reviews for KOMA that mention it by name; the stars beside it are the average rating of those reviews, which rates the visit rather than the dish, because Google publishes no per-dish rating. A short name that could mean two dishes is counted for neither. Dishes arrive in one of a dozen plating forms coloured from KOMA’s own food photographs, an interpretation rather than a record. The bell, the breaking glass, the pages and the water are synthesised sounds, not recordings.

People: characters and motions from Mixamo (Adobe), reduced for the web. How many are out on Temple Street follows the saved Google popular times of the street's recorded places at the chosen hour; Tokyo and London have none recorded, so there it follows the ordinary rhythm of a day. KOMA has diners only while its saved opening hours say it is serving; who sits where is an impression, not a record.

Their placement is an impression of each street's everyday life, not a record of it.
